Jane is from a famous familyand her work reflects that origin. This piece is a Six Direction mole (Navajo Shrew) made of marble. Attached to its back are the other five prey guardian animals of the Zuni Six Directions. Note: This carver's work appears in Mark Bahti's "Spirit in the Stone" (page 95)

Dinah is the granddaughter of Teddy Weahkee, a well known carver in the mid century. This fetish is a green serpentine turtle withe the shell appearance as a carved surface. The turtle has rain association powers and is a link to Zuni ancestors.
